In the beginning, while praying about the schools, both Pastor Jon and Pastor Doug felt a divine prompting to "build an immersion training program, something that would cut to the chase and get trained workers and leaders into the harvest fields as quickly as possible." The program was to be:

God has helped us realize this vision. As of 2009, ASI materials are currently in use in six different countries.

About the Founder:
Jon Devlin is a thirty-five year veteran of ministry. A gifted teacher and preacher, he has served at all levels of pastoral ministry, including stints as a career missionary, church planter, and church growth consultant. His passion, though, is to "equip the saints," to train new generations of dedicated Gospel ministers. Arrow Schools International is the result of that passion carried to its logical end. Jon holds four college degrees, including a Doctor of Divinity degree. He is the author of all the School of Ministry curriculum.

Our logo represents our mission as we see it. Of course, the Archer is God who has a definite plan or purpose for each life. The arrow is the student. The bow represents the School, a tool in the hand of God that helps Him accomplish His will for each student.

To Whom Honor is Due:
Hi. My name is Jon Devlin. I am the Founder and President of Arrow Schools International. I want to take a moment and give honor to whom honor is due for Arrow Schools.

Our family moved to Roseville, California in November of 1994. That weekend we attended a church we had heard about Abundant Life Fellowship, pastored by Doug and Janice Bird. The church was young, excited about the things of God, and seeing people give their hearts to Christ in every service. Needless to say, we knew we'd found a church home.

Although experienced in ministry, I was content to work behind the scenes, filling in where I could, trying to get a fix on what God wanted next in my life. In the summer of 1995 I had a lunch appointment with Pastor Doug, the first opportunity I'd had to speak with him one-on-one. When we were done, we had a dream of planting a School of Ministry at Abundant Life. Six weeks later Arrow Schools International became a reality.

In December of 1996 Pastor Doug invited me to join his staff. He could see I had big dreams, so he qualified his offer with this statement. Just give me two good years. I agreed to do so. He then said something that I had to chew on for awhile. Whatever you want to do, you can do it from right here at Abundant Life. I smiled and said my thanks, all the while thinking "I appreciate the sentiment, but I feel big stuff inside of me. Someday I'm going to have to go out and make my mark in the world." A lot of ministers, young and old, feel the same.

But Pastor Doug meant what he said. I have never met a more affirming and empowering leader in my life. As you can see I've never left and I've seen God birth ministries in each of our hearts that were brought to pass right here at Abundant Life Fellowship. Lord's Gym was a dream in Pastor Doug's heart in 1995. Now there are Lord's Gyms sprouting up all over the country as well as overseas. And there's so much more. God has truly enables us to touch the world from Roseville.

As for Arrow Schools. I planned on starting a local school for Pastor Doug, but it wasn't long before I had vision to see Arrow Schools in churches around the country, even around the world. That has become a reality. And the vision just kept growing. I soon saw how Arrow could use the Internet to offer a quality, low-cost education to any student who had a computer and the desire to grow in God.

That's a funny thing about Abundant Life Fellowship. Everything just keeps growing and producing for the glory of God. That's why I wanted to take time here and honor my pastor and his wife. They've helped many of us become far better leaders than we could have been without them. They opened the door and said, "Come, do all that God puts in your heart" and then gave us the elbow room to make it happen. God bless!
